Intake problem on cold start. After ineffective use of additive, dealership recommending carburetor clean for $1,000. Car is 5 years old with less than 50K miles. Brought to independent mechanic and told that this is not uncommon on fuel injected cars. Any thoughts?

I noticed today that my Drivers side Floormat the plastic things are seperating from the mat. Im still under 50k. Can I turn it in for Warranty and have them order me a new mat?

Im going to look at a 98 in the morning. It has 250K with a huge list of new parts and a 110K motor in it. Its a 5 sp....so the tranny should be good. Any other problems I should be aware of? Thanks Dan

Anyone else had any clutch problems? Last Thursday evening my clutch was acting funny and making a burning smell. Left it over the weekend and took it In to VW dealer on Tuesday. Just found out the clutch warranty is 1 year/12000 miles and I'm at 15k miles. Fun stuff I've got a call in to VW...
