On my 1998 New Beetle 1.9 TDI, I would like to know whether the wastegate on the turbocharger should be open or closed at engine idle speeds. The vacuum on the N75 valve holds at about 18hg when idling at 900 rpm's. Should the reading return to zero at higher rpm's?

Going to look at a 2013 Tiguan 2.0 TSI today for $13,500. Has about 75k miles on it and was curious on if anyone thinks I should purchase it or maybe try to find a new year with less miles on it. I have tried to look up problems people are having with the car but it seems like this one has quite...

We were out looking at cars for my wife to replace her Ford Taurus. We took a test drive and really liked the car. But I've heard that parts are very pricey for VW's. I took a look at Rockauto and the prices seemed a bit higher but not outrageous when compared to a Honda Civic (the other car we...

I am about to purchase a 2012 Jetta Sportwagon. I can get either a gas or diesel model. Can I get a reliable avg mpg on the 2.0L TDI? I see some advertised as 50 mpg and others at 40s. I weigh 225 and will be carrying another 300# of gear. I am happy to pay the higher diesel cost if the...

Hello, I am about to buy my first car. I have always been looking for a rabbit. I found a 2008 used rabbit, with manual transmission, with 113,000km and 2.5 engine. Because the car is from 2008, and that there is no more warranty on it, would it be too much risk to purchase it? The car sells...

Hi, the video gives you a tutorial how to replace the ball bearing of an idler. This is necessary when the spare part isn't available anymore, or when the price of the idler is much higher than the price of the bearing: The video has a German soundtrack but English subtitles are available at...

I bought a 2012 Passat 2.5 S about three weeks ago. The estimated MPG ranges from 22-32 MPG, BUT I'm averaging about 18-19 including hwy miles. I do more city driving, but either way, I feel my MPG's should be higher. My full gas tank gave me 345 total miles. Does anyone know why this may occur...

I was wondering if it was actually worth putting Cetane into the diesel to help with the burn rate, I have seen how a higher rating helps but I also heard that it can cause the fuel to become gummy with some of the additives in it. I am wondering what your opinions are on this
  18. Dear VW
My 82 is doing well. Fuel mileage into the 50's but it sure would be nice to have a nice, new VW TDI diesel pickup. Even better if the fuel mileage is higher than what my 33 year old truck is getting now. Come on VW - bring these little trucks into the USA. A market with NO competition - and...

Wonering about this. I bought my 81 diesel rabbit pickup and it had 185/60 r14 tires on it. New tire times coming up and I'm wondering if I should go back to the regular size or stick with these. Also not sure if I'm supposed to inflate them to what is posted on my car or what the tire says...

Lately when I step on the brakes the pedal seems to be lower. Still have good brakes and stops good. And doesn't do it all the time...but seems to be 1" or so lower than normal when applied. Has new pads, caliper, rear wheel cylinders....maybe 1000 miles on them. Would that be the rear shoes need...
