Had the same problem with my 2009. The fix was a new ABS control module. This item is under a recall for both a software update and replacement if the software fails to fix it. Contact your local VW service department. Doesn't matter if you bought the car used they should honor the recall.
0778 and 01316
Hello forum. I have recently purchased a 2007 VW rabbit 2.5
I love it. I have wanted one for a while and this one came up for a good deal.
No issues when I bought it. After driving for about 2-3 weeks I am getting the error codes 0778 (Steering wheel sensor) and 01316 (Brake control module)
I have a dash light on with a yellow steering wheel. Online indicated I should change the steering sensor, so I changed that. It didnt fix anything. not sure where to go from here as a new brake module is 900+ Canadian
Any insights? Very happy with my VW, not happy with this..... hoping I can avoid extra expense and fix myself
