Hi guys,

Having a nightmare problem with my 1.4 TSI.

Replaced the timing chain, tensioner, head reconditioned, new valves ect, but for the 3rd time the exhaust camshaft stretch bolt has slackened off.
Anyone have any idea why this keeps happening?
I torque the new stretch bolts to 40nm plus 90 degrees inlet and 50nm plus 90 degrees exhaust, should I be using lock tight on the bolts? or is that the wrong torque settings?
many thanks for any advice

Willie

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
My golf is 2008 (should of mentioned that)
I spoke with my local VW dealership, they said it should be 50nm plus 90 degrees, no mention of loctite, but this time I cleaned the cam threads thoroughly and applied loctite as suggested by the VW mechanic.
Lets see what happens
