1988 rabbit caddy pickup

I have a 1988 Caddy diesel pickup that was built in Germany for the German Red Cross. Has 10,000 orig. km but my mechanic says the injector pump is bad. Any idea where I may find one, what differences are, or if anyone rebuilds them? they are having no luck finding one, but it has a german vin, and no databases for parts suppliers out there have an option beyond 1982. I would really appreciate any help you can give me.

cis flowtech dot com rebuilt my 1.7 gas fuel injection last year. two thumbs up.
i am having a hard time being able to post, or navigate the site.
can't open or find the link.
i found a guy in england who says he can rebuild it, reasonable. is this just a normal vw diesel pump? my mechanic can't tell.

Moved this to the MK1 forum, just saw it listed as a CAddy......

Depends on which injection pump that you have as to how readily it is a available...
You won't find new ones usually less than a Grand USD, but most can be rebuilt by a good diesel service center.
If you are here in the States, which I doubt, there are a few that are local to me and about 25 years ago charged me about 150 for the rebuild, but I bought all
the parts needed...

Giles Pumps over here are a Beautiful thing, as he not only rebuilds them but makes them run better and I never have heard a disparaging word about his work.
They are pricey tho... not as much as new but up there.
Moderator, hurry.
Sorry for the delay, but I have other things more pressing... Like my Cabby died, and life outside of the forum.

What exactly do we need to moderate except for the mk5 move... I mean it's an 88 and a Caddy, so it has more incommon with a mk2 than a mk5, and
even tho i put it in the mk1 forum as it is a Caddy, mk1's stopped at 93 with the Cabriolet, and Caddy's stopped being mk1's in 84.

I would assume that the OP has the 1.6 or 1.7 Diesel and possibly a Turbo install.... I suspect that he is NonConus, (not Continental US) and would be sourcing parts from the UK, or Mainland Europe.

www.vwheritage.com . werk34.de are 2 sites that I am familiar with across the pond.
I also know of a Gentleman from Greece that can source parts as well.

If they are non-uk based as in where the OP is located, which helps to place in your Profile, then VWheritage usually doesn't include the VAT tax on the final bill.

Now for parts information the ETKA is a good place to start and they have listings in Europa for the 88 Caddy, as over here in the USofA they were never really called a Caddy, but a Pickup Truck and only go up to 85.

As yours could be classed either as a mk2 and not a mk1 as it has more inline body and drive train wise to the mk2, but I will leave it in the mk1 forum for now, as it appears to be an irritant to the mk5 crowd we all know how elletist the upper echelons of Rabbit owners can be :) LOL Just Joking..... with 14 posts you are a little presumptuous in how fast we should moderate, when a post isn't flagged specifically for moderation but is one of those that we have to find on our own,,, but I suspect that I could place you on Moderation... :) just Kidding, as I have moved the thread out of your forum. Oh By the Way, placing the general area of the world where you live in your Profile helps us help you a tad faster.
