Hey everyone, I've got a 2007 2.5L with 176,000 miles and the transmission is stuck in park but the display on the dash shows it is in reverse. Now I can't shift the transmission into any gear. I saw somewhere that there is a trick to override the shift lock but that only seems temporary. I'm hoping the experts on here have a permanent fix or advice on what I should do.
THANKS!

You'd have to take the center console apart to remove/bypass the shift-interlock.

You say the dash says reverse, with the key in, car on, are the reverse lights
on? There is a range sensor on the trans:

The black plug is the sensor...

There is a way to completely bypass the interlock, it would need removed. Lots of people
have done it. The Dodge Charger has this issue with the interlock, the finger that holds
the spring breaks, and it won't shift out of part. Most people just remove the interlock...
I pulled the shiftier out of my charger and fixed it, but I saw how to eliminate it...
