2010 Jetta 118TSI 1.4L - Timing belt / chain?

Hi there, title sums it up really... I have a 2010 Jetta that I'm trying to sell, 117,000km on the clock. When I purchased it the dealer (not an official VW dealer) said that it has a chain, not a belt - can someone confirm that is the case? At what point should it be replaced etc if it is? Same question if it is a belt too. Thanks!
