2009 jetta S 2.5 about two months ago a guy installed a performance air filter for me well recently we hooked up scanner and says cylinder 2 misfire... any ideas would help on where to start trying to fix this issue.... thanks!!

Spark plug, or coil pack, but do all 5 plugs, you never change just one...

To test coil pack: Take #2 coil pack, and swap it with any other cylinder's
coil pack. If the misfire moves to that location, it's the coil pack. If it
stays at #2, it's the plug.

Any time the CEL blinks, it's a misfire or other severe engine issue.
Solid CEL is mostly emissions related devices.

Thank you for the info!! Yah im a lil over 100k miles so ill just change the plugs - if i do discover it is the coil pack- should I change all 5 or am I good with just the one replacement? Thanks again!!

VW recommends coil pack changes with spark plugs every 40,000 miles, but that can get
expensive for me, as I put 1800 miles a week on mine (job). Test the coil pack FIRST,
as indicated, then move to plugs just to know if its the plug or coil pack.

Thanks, I did what you suggested, the misfire stayed at number two so i replaced all plugs.
