Clutch not disengaging

Hey. Ive got a 2005 passat 1.8t 4motion manual tranny. So i was driving down the road shifting normally and then all the sudden my clutch pedal went all the way to the floor and i had no clutch use. I drove for a little while intending to get to where i was going but was forced to stop and couldn't get the car back into first. I did a little research and it sounds like a hydraulic system failure but based on the brief evaluation the system everything seems to be working and not leaking fluid.

Any ideas as to what else this might be? Or could it be the slave or master cylinder that went bad even though they aren't leaking?

Thanks.

Sounds like it's the "throw-out" bearing, or clutch release. It sounds like it got air into it. I'd recommend bleeding it and hope that works. If you have to replace it, the tranny has to come out as it is attached to the inside rear of the transmission cover.
At least that's where it is on my '10 Jetta Wolfie.

Ok thank you i will try bleeding it. Is it possible to remove the transmission without removing the engine? Looking at it i cant really tell.

Also, im curious as to how air could have gotten in? It all happened so quickly so im wondering what failed if it is an issue of air in the lines

So, when I did mine, I only pulled the tranny and left the engine alone. I did have a brace holding the engine in place.
As for why, could be a number of reasons, so I'd check your hoses and levels.

Ok thanks. Any tips on removing the tranny? Seemed to me like there were some bolts
that would be pretty tough to get to.
