I really need some help. I just purchased a 98 Jetta GL from original owner. Coolant is low and previous owner said Auto Zone sold her Zerex G40. I’m panicked because I have always ordered G12 for my VW’s. I’ve searched online and throughout forums and have read conflicting answers.


I would flush and use G12 but I’ve read it’s not a good idea to flush because after 25 years now it’s sure to stir up sediment that I’m afraid could just start a whole new list of problems.
Does anyone know if it safe to continue using Zerex G40 ?

G40 will be fine.
Have added G40 to G12/G13 & vice versa with no problems for years.

ARE YOU SERIOUS??!!! I have been SO STRESSED OUT over this. I had finally resolved to having it flushed and putting G12 in it. It would be AMAZING to leave it as is and definitely ENJOY my Jetta!!
