Engine Bay Fan stays on once car is off & locked?

hey guys,

looking for some help?

I own a 2015 VW Golf GTD and it has approx 89,000miles. Recently when I arrive at a destination and lock the car the fan is still on in the engine bay and it doesn't turn off for about 10minutes. Does anyone have a diagnosis or a solution?

Everyone with a 2009+ TDI has experienced this same thing. It is perfectly normal. The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) catches soot. When it gets full the ECU starts a regeneration cycle which burns off that accumulated soot. It is completely normal behavior.

You will find mention of this in your VW owners manual
