Free 82 Rabbit Cabrio

Hey guys,

I've registered here to see if anyone has any interest in a complete 82 Rabbit cabrio. The car has been in an outbuilding on my property for nearly 20 years, and the owner has told me to dispose of it. I'm actually a long time member of 914 World, so I know the value of old car parts. I don't want to send this car to the crusher if a club member would want it.

The car is complete, the engine and trans are out, but all appears to be present. The body is in very good shape, but I can't say if its solid enough for resto or if she's strictly a parts car. All glass is intact. The interior is garbage. The mice and raccoons have had their way with all soft bits inside, and the top is similarly toast.

The car is located in Winnebago Illinois, which is about 90 miles west of Chicago. The car is literally free to the first taker. There is no title, but owner is my buddy, and we can help you get a lost title if you decide to save the car. I won't ship, but I'll help load her up. Also not super interested in pulling parts. Frankly, I'm an attorney and I don't have time to play with my own cars. It would be tough to find time to screw around with this one.

If you need more info, let me know. I'll get the answer if I can.

Good luck Chris, I know it can be hard to try and find a good home for things even at the price of Free.

Unfortunately I'm too far, if only you were 90 miles east of Chicago Id be hooking up the trailer.
Sorry Edd. I thought I'd get an email if the thread received a reply. I'll try to get out there a get some pics asap.

Such as it is. . .

Engine and trans are in another building, covered for 20 years or so. Engine was pulled because it needed a head gasket as I recall, but I'd have to check to be sure.

Let me know what you think.

Hi, Chris. Looks like my message didn't send. I'm sorry, I got super busy this weekend. I will get back to you when I can come out. I still want it. Thank you.
