head gasket replacement

does anyone have a write up on how to change (what order to remove things) the headgasket on my 99 beetle , my car overheated and now is losing water very slowly , plus its hard to start in the morning , only firing on 2 cylinders until (i'm assuming water) whatever is in the other 2 bores , clears , then its fine , but the hot light comes on for a minute or two before going off again .
