Try to find a mk1 Cabriolet in the junk yard as you also need 1 or 2 pedal switches 1 for auto and 2 for Clutched, that control the ECU for the Cruise as well as opening the vacuum from the motor to cut it out as well.
Cruise was common over here in the Jettas, Passat, and Golfs which were all set up the same with the same parts, so don't discount them. The pedal switches if purchased new are 60 bucks USD each, and there were 3 styles of sending units on the back of the speedometer housings that I have seen over the years. I suspect that they would interchange but don't know that as a Given.
