Hello.
I have a question about hydraulics control unit to my VW golf 3 variant syncro 1997. I have some problems with it and have to replace it. In the parts catalogue its stands that it’s several different part numbers. I have asked a bit around and some people say that these are not interchangeable and will not work if we have the wrong one. Do anybody have some idea if I can pick anyone of these when I will change the hydraulics control unit (abs pump) or if I have to have the exactly the same.
The list of parts that VW work shop manual lists up for my car is:

1H1698117E
1H1698117C
1H1698117B
1H1698117F
1H1698217B

The problem is that VW have stopped manufacturing all of there pumps and vwclassics does not have them. And its very few parts of them left in Norway. So if I could use every pump it would be a lot easyer and cheaper.

You can still search eBay for the part number.

The letter after the part# is a revision, but too far down the
revision chain, it changes. For example, the 09G transmission
filter is the same part#, but the part changes physical shape
ans size the farther down the revision chain it goes. I just
found that out recently, I needed an "E", not an "A."

For the most part, a pump is a pump, as long as your harness plugs into it,
and the brake lines and fittings match up. A later revision may mean a total
change in pins in the plug and brake line diameters. You should be safe
within one or two revisions, like A, you should be able to use a B or C, but
D was when it drastically changed for newer cars with more advanced
communications and ECUs.

Please post a PIC and PART# It is 1J0907370, to revision P for the actual pump.

The part# you have is the module:

To revision D.

You want help, so post your exact part#s, and people may help look it up or you.

PLUS, it's an MK3, almost any 1997 to 2003 pump and module would work, and they are on eBay.
This also MK3 Jetta, Cabrio, Corrado....

Passat part# is different, but is the same pump...
