New to VWOC, but bought my 74 Love Bug new!

Just found your site; I have owned my 74 "orange" Love Bug since new. Purchased during the fuel crisis of 1973...traded my Olds 442 for it. I live in Texas, so stopped driving it in 1980 when we had a string of 40+ 100 degree days. I retired in 2016 and decided it was time to "un-retire" the Beetle. It has original paint in great condition (always garaged), had the engine upgraded with the MaMotors 1776 kit, having the seats recovered in cloth (it is still hot in Texas), purchased a battery powered airconditioner for it. Looking forward to maintenance articles on how to keep the Bug running for another 45 years!
