No dashboard lights !

Hi all,
Had trouble releasing my steering lock a few weeks back and now all my lights ie speed , rev counter, fuel gauge, petrol gauge, indicator working but no sound are all at zero. It"s been suggested that my keys are not recognising and may need re booting. Got a distinct feeling that the steering lock is faulty and needs replacing. Any advice most welcome before I approach main dealer. Thanks. Mike.
