Have a 2017 1.8 Jetta Sport for a few weeks now and noticed some sort of oil leak (see attached pics). Cleaned it up once and then it comes back in the same pattern. Can't see anything leaking when the engine is running. Plan on taking it to the dealer for service shortly, but was wondering what you guys think.

Seeing as it's a 2017, warranty applies, yeah, take it in and show them.

Oil would not dry up like that though.. Have you run your finger over it,
and smelled it? You'll know right away if it's oil or not, especially if
it's been in there 7000+ miles.

Looks more like VWs red coolant to me...

Thanks for replying.

Upon closer inspection, it is definitely not coolant. Perhaps some sort of hydraulic fluid leaking from an engine mount. Strange thing is that I've cleaned it up twice now and it comes back slowly in the same pattern after about 3-4 days of driving. Just really weird. Maybe something to do with the turbo? I'm not really familiar with Volkswagens (this is my first, having driven Jeeps and trucks forever). I'll be taking it in next week. I'll let you guys know what they say.

If you have the fluid filled mounts, one of them could be is leaking. It will eventually
collapse the mount.
