Hi Guys, I have a 2003 Golf Match 16 valve. Every now and again on starting up a warm engine it finally starts with a lot of cranking, but chokes and runs rich with the smell of unburned petrol. Pressure on the throttle at this time stalls it out. After several seconds of rough running the engine clears itself and runs smoothly, but with a faster idle speed of about 1100 rpm. Any ideas would be gratefully received. Many thanks

When a car is cold, it needs more fuel till it warms up. Your choke will be
partially closed for this reason. Most carb problems on cold starts are
the choke. However, jet adjusters can loosen up and put more fuel in than
supposed to.

Looks like it's troubleshooitin' time...
