I have a 1985 Jetta with a 1.6 N/A Diesel. The engine would lose oil pressure after it got warmed up and I'm in the process of pulling the motor. Which is better, pulling it from the top or dropping it thru the bottom? I pulled the oil pan and the screen is clean so I ruled that out as the problem.

I'm new at this so I can remove the sub-frame? that's part of the frame? I've already started to remove the cv joints so will I need to reattach them?

Yes, if you take it all out the bottom there's not much to take off. Front eng mount, struts at the top, heater/rad hoses, exhaust, fuel lines, gear linkage at the rack and few wires.

Pull the engine out of the top top of the car... Its much much easier on an MK2 to take off the radiator core support, radiator and pull the motor out the top
