I read online that the RCD510 touch screen VW Radio unit will fit my 2008 Jetta? Can anyone verify this? I have the standard unit with the knobs and dials, but would much rather prefer a touch screen unit. I don't want to go with aftermarket, so I thought after reading that the RCD510 factory radio will fit my car, I would go with that, but I wanted to verify if anyone else had heard this or done the swap themselves. Thanks!

You will also need to upgrade the canbus gateway, or upgrade the current
gateway. You need VCDS to check the version of your gateway. You will
drain the battery with the 510 if the gateway is not addressed, because
it controls radio power. The correct canbus gateway tells the head unit to
power off after 30 mins. Your ANS radio powers off when you remove the key.

Can gateway has to be "L" or newer. 240 dollars to the total cost of the upgrade,
or you buy the part and use VCDS to code it. Can buy VCDS on WISH.COM for
under $30.00, I have V14 and V17s, they work just fine.

If you want the satellite functions, then you need a sat antenna too.

So, can you do it, yes; but will cost, probably more than an aftermarket
unit & installation. You won't need to do anything with the CAN gateway
with an aftermarket unit and the right harness.
