knowing that the engine turns over smoothly, and that there is no play on the bottom pulley wheel, I'm optimistic about the condition of the engine, just got to get this rusty metal off to check. View attachment 44502
besides the cleaning up needed, everything looks to be reusable, I'm placing the parts in order,left to right, orientated as on the engine left to right.
space on the right side of the table to take the right head & pots, first out comes the bellows after it's bracket is unbolted.
ready to remove the right cylinder head and some assistance presented itself in thwe form of Daughter, Daughters boyfriend, Harry my son and me, four people can lift a beetle shell onto the beetle chassis.
the holes all line up, hooray!, the only grip is I forgot to drill out the sheared off body location stud rear right, not a problem, this is just a test fit.
the body was easy to lift with four people, in fact so easy, using a length of timber at each end, we were able to fine tune it's position over the front and rear bolt holes, two in the front and two either side of the rear wheel arches.
had to rush out and buy a new car cover to keep my new floor out of the weather.
