Hello everyone. I am in a bit of a dilemma. My 2009 New Beetle will not pass one part of the emissions test and it is causing me to not pass the smog as a whole. At this point I’ve done multiple cold starts, driving cycles, and put over 1,000 miles on my car to get it to set to ready and nothing is working. Took it to a repair shop and they told me I had leaks and needed to replace my air mass boot, 2 air pump hoses, and a breather hose. Got a two more opinions from my smog people and another mechanic and they both said that they were unnecessary and I just needed to “drive” it. Beyond frustrated because all I’ve been doing is driving it… My check engine light has never came on and I haven’t heard anything about codes. I don’t know what to do? Should I just give the first repair shop the okay to replace everything? I’m terrified of being taken advantage of and spending over $1,000 just to have the car not pass afterwards.
