I am not sure about the engine. It might depend on how it is used. Also, yes it is expensive if you want to use original parts to repair.

Looking to purchase a 2003 Golf Comfortline 1.6 petrol. Car looks to be in excellent shape, full service history and clean and neat. My question is, can a little motor like this handle these sort of kilometres? Also, are VW's expensive to repair if something does go wrong?
Really appreciate any feedback anyone can spare.
