Strange defect

I have a 2018 golf sportwagen..after about a month I noticed rear bumper was kind of raised in one area..not flush from one side to the other as should be..this past weekend I saw bare metal along a 6 inch strip along edge of tailgate where it had been rubbing along that raised portion of bumper..have been to the dealer and pics were sent to vw..will this be covered..it is a defect from the factory..ps there was never any contact made causing this bulge in bumper
