The Volkswagen Touareg has been killed from the automaker’s U.S. lineup.

First reported by Motor Trend, the midsize Touareg will be discontinued in the U.S. after the 2017 model year, leaving the German automaker with the Tiguan and Atlas for the time being. Shoppers will likely look towards the 2018 Tiguan since it got longer and offers more cargo space to replace the Touareg, while the Atlas will mainly appeal to those looking to seat seven, although the Tiguan is also available with three rows of seats, something the Touareg never got. The move might sound strange considering Volkswagen‘s desire to expand on its crossover and SUV offerings, particularly in the U.S., but a new compact model is in development that will bolster Volkswagen’s lineup.
