W8 Engine/Phaser question...

Hey there, I'm new to VW, but am 52 and a Mechanic/Shop owner for ever. I'd like to post some pics on here of the teardown etc... because I've received a really nice car, in trade for a 280k Accord, so he could get a job. He couldn't afford a timing job on his low mile 03 Passat Sedan W8. I'm taking on the project... it's apart and the heads off... BIG ASS WHORE JOB!... and have found the usual failure of the screens. Three of the four screens are gone. I need to go through all the passages, valves etc... and I'm at the Phasers, but not seeing any safe way to disassemble. I don't want to blindly destroy the part and have not been able to find ANY info or experience with anyone having one apart...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
