Lately it has been going through my mind about the different eras in time that we here hold dear. Most of us hold fond memories of the 80's and 90's and things associated with those decades, especially cars. VWs from the 80s and early to mid 90's are held in high regard in the VW community. They are loved for their ease to fix and their simple, boxy, understated good German looks. How will the community feel about the MKV years from now? Will it be held in the rarefied air as the Mk I and II? My guess is no. The early models always command the most respect and attention when something becomes a hit. They are genesis. They made the name great. It boggles my mind to think if I still have my Rabbit when I'm 46, that people will think of it as a classic design. Has motoring design lost it's ability to create truly timeless shapes? I suppose only time will tell but the idea is a real head scratcher.
