1974 Super Beetle. Engine recently overhauled. New plugs, New Carb, New points, New condenser, New fuel pump. Engine will start, but not remain running. Will not idle. Backfires. Had black, oily residue in Carb throat. As afterthought, checked oil level. At least 1/2 quart low, was full after engine was installed 2 weeks ago.
