How hard is it to paint the brake calipers? I was thinking of painting them some sort of eye catching color. Also if I do this, what is everyone's thoughts on color? I have UB car.

Like Sean said, there are several threads on this subject. You can purchase kits for different colors at any AutoZone type of store. As for color, go with whatever makes you happy. Everyone's opinion is going to be different but in the end, it's your car. The upside is since you have a black bunny it's hard to choose a "bad" color. However, depending on your wheel design, you may see a lot of the calipers or not much at all. Use the search function and you'll get lots of info on the details.

My Engine Cover has pink sides. I just think the color match combination compliments each other. But yeah dont waste your time with the painting of the calipers until u get wheels that you can see through it. your just wasting your time until then. Trust me!

Silver and Sage would kick ass....someone post some sage shots, I barely ever see any green MKVs!!!! ERBSKOJE orange would look nice but would scream halloween lol. I was recently in the marekt for a Black 2010 GTI and I was going to change all the Red to like a Lambo Green. kinda like a milky mint. You should do something like that for your calipers! instant status!

I'm not sure I'd trust spray paint to do that job. I have a bit of experience in the spray area, but spray paint on brake calipers?

eeeh.

I think the legit caliper painting hits acutally come with a 'brush' sort or thing, and the paint is made to be loaded on and stick really well. Spray paint... maybe not so much, I wouldn't risk it. Although I was considering sage green calipers too for a moment. ( I have SG spray paint)

As long as you use a high temperature paint like what you'd use to paint engine parts spray paint should be fine. Of course, if you're going to spray them I certainly hope you plan on doing it right and removing the calipers to paint them ... with the caliper paint kits you can get by with leaving the calipers on the car and painting them since you are applying the paint with a brush. With spray paint you're bound to get overspray on parts that you really don't want to be getting paint on if you don't remove the calipers before painting.

I remove the cover, popped the VW emblem off, Sanded it with 400 grit sandpaper, primed it, sanded again with 400 grit. Sprayed with Alien Art concept spray paint made by Montana Spanish Spray paint, then did a 1000 grit light sand and then clear coated it. Then put the emblem back on, used my old badge from the back of my car ( i debadged the back a while go) snipped off the plastic that held the 2.5 logo together (sanded edges) and then sanded up the 2.5 logo on the engine cover and glued the silver badge on top.

Alien Art Concepts and Montana Spray paint have so many different shades of colors. With a good clear coat, its amazing.

The trick is to paint it while its vertical, I use wire and suspend it in the middle of the garage with drop clothes. the reason I sanded the color was for over spray which can happen with montana spray paint and for any extra debris.
