Hi,

Planning to replace the low pressure fuel pump on my B6 2litre TDI. I have received the replacement part but not yet disassembled the unit in the car.

I'm a bit confused by the purpose of the disconnected hose in the centre of the image. It seems to be connected to the the outlet hose via a Y connection within the housing.

Any advice on how this is dealt with as part of the installation is welcomed

TIA Adam

That center hose you’re pointing out is part of the internal fuel return or balance system, it helps equalize pressure between chambers or returns excess fuel depending on flow demand. It stays inside the module and doesn't connect to anything externally. As long as it’s seated properly in the housing and not kinked or loose, you’re good. Just make sure all seals and the Y connector are tight when you reinstall.
