Guys,

I am trying to get some help/advice re: the issue I am having with my 2007 Rabbit (automatic) that I purchased 2 month ago.

The issue is that engine shuts-off sometime by itself @ very slow speed or while idling (i.e. drive-thru, car wash, traffic light) - so far 3 times in 2 months.

This seems to be a common issue ? see below link.

I know myself 2 other people that experienced the same problem with their rabbits. I have recorded a claim thru VW Canada, as recommended by the dealership.

In the meantime, the dealership could not figure it out what is causing the engine to stall. The computer did not record anything. There is no trace of a fault whatsoever.

Has anybody else had the same issue and if so, has the issue been completely fixed? What was the problem?

Kindly advice.

Thanks,
CT

I read this a few days ago thinking that it is probably an isolated incident.

I was wrong...

Tonight, I parallel parked and put the car into park. Two seconds later, the engine stalled. My older car had a manual tranny and I never stalled it once in four years. I get an automatic VW and it stalls within a month on its own.

I'm guessing there will be a recall shortly.

OMG! Same problem here. I took it to the dealer and they could not figure out what was wrong with my car. and still tried to charge me for a diagnostic. i did not pay! a mechanic switched the power relay then the MAP sensor but nothing it keeps doing the same thing it works fine for 2 weeks then it does the exact same thing dont know what to do. what exactly are you doing with the dealer did you open up a claim? did they charge you?
